"Rüdiger Trautsch attended the Hamburg College of Design and worked as a layout artist in advertising agencies. From 1973 to 1981 he studied at the Hamburg Academy for Fine Arts. From 1981 onwards Trautsch worked as a freelance photographer for advertising agencies and fashion magazines and together with his partner, Ken Hall, ran a photographic studio.
His photo projects are conceived as long-term projects, such as his many series 'Folsom', 'Bärenparty', 'Damenimitatoren' and 'Männer Paare'. Right from the start of the 1970s, Trautsch also documented the gay rights movement in his photographs."
